ReadyNAS 2100 - Can't connect after factory reset

Hello All,

I've got a ReadyNAS 2100 That I've been trying to wipe and redeploy.  Most of the time, it does not allow connections.  Here is what I have observed:

1. During the 10 minute delay after I initiate a factory reset, it can be pinged and RAIDar can connect to it.  After checking drives, it allows the Setup button to be pressed and the RAID type selected.  It also allows a telnet connection.  It does not allow connection to the web interface.

2. After the factory reset begins, it can still be pinged, but RAIDar cannot find the unit, and telnet and the web interface are not available.  Waiting does not seem to change this.

3. If power cycled after a factory reset (timeframe doesn't seem to matter), it no longer returns pings.

Notes:

* I'm not sure of the firmware version.  It does not display in RAIDar when it is able to connect.

* The unit is not on a network currently, but is connected directly to a laptop with a crossover cable.  It has been defaulting to the IP address 192.168.168.168.

* I have disabled all A/V protection and firewalls on the laptop, just in case.

* I have tried using both the most recent version of RAIDar and an older version.

* I have tried doing the factory reset with all 4 drives in, no drives in, 1 drive in, and two drives in.  It does not seem to make a difference.

* Doing an OS reinstall doesn't seem to change anything, except that it may return pings afterward, but that's it.

Any tricks or ideas?  Or am I missing something basic?

Thanks.

  • It is a v2 so it could run OS6 (though unsupported). It should be fixed now.

How long are you waiting after you start the RAID setup?

I've done the reset countless times now, but I have waited as long as 5 days.

That should certainly be long enough...

Are these new disks?  If so, what are the drive models (in particular the size).
