ReadyNAS 314 intermittently loses DNS
I have a ReadyNas 314 that has DNS issues. If I change the DNS settings in any way it will be fine for a while. For example if I change the DNS server from 8.8.8.8 to 8.8.4.4 it will work for a while...

Is the ReadyNAS using a static address or dhcp? Are you using both NICs in the RN314 or just one? If you are using both, is the R8500/NAS using LACP bonding or a different mode?

It is an RN314. Not sure how R8500 got in the subject line. Just using one NIC with a static IP.

Hello twocycle,
I have changed and corrected the title now and replaced R8500 with ReadyNAS 314.
Are you still using 6.5.0? Have you tried updating the firmware? ReadyCloud will be available only for 6.5.1 and later versions. If you are using ReadyCloud, you also need to migrate the account, please see ReadyCLOUD to MyNETGEAR Single Sign-On FAQ.
And as always, we strongly recommend to always have full backup of the data stored to the NAS.
Welcome to the community!

I did switch to mynetgear single signon quite a while ago and seems to work fine except for the DNS issue on the Readynas.
Do you think the DNS problem is related to the 6.5.0 version?
We upgraded to 6.5.0 for the transition to myneatgear and the accounts have been migrated per the following email from Netgear. Has the requirement changed from 6.5.0 to 6.5.1?
Thank you very much for the help.
Dear John,
This email message is to notify you that your ReadyCLOUD account is changing to a MyNETGEAR single sign-on account. By migrating your existing ReadyCLOUD account to a MyNETGEAR single sign-on account, we offer you one single sign-on account to manage all your NETGEAR products. This transition will take place in early May.
To continue to use ReadyCLOUD, you must follow these steps:- Create or migrate your ReadyCLOUD account to a MyNETGEAR.com single sign-on account.
After the transition, when you visit ReadyCLOUD, you will be prompted to migrate to a MyNETGEAR account. During the migration, you will be asked to enter your existing ReadyCLOUD account credentials; this allows the NETGEAR server to associate your ReadyCLOUD and MyNETGEAR accounts.
2. Upgrade your ReadyNAS firmware to version 6.5.0.
After the transition, the first time that you log in to your ReadyNAS system or the ReadyCLOUD portal, you will be prompted to update your ReadyNAS firmware to version 6.5.0.
Note: You do NOT need to update router firmware.
3. Update your ReadyCLOUD apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
Follow the upgrade prompt in the app or in the app store.
All of the content and your ReadyCLOUD configuration that was accessible by your ReadyCLOUD account will continue to be accessible by your new MyNETGEAR account.

Thank you and enjoy the new ReadyCLOUD and MyNETGEAR.com experience.

Hello twocycle,
Ah yes, it started on 6.5.0 for the migration. Part of troubleshooting, you can try the upgrade, you can always revert to 6.5.0, anyway.
Maybe you want to also try connecting the NAS straight to the router in case it is connected to a switch that is connected to a router.
