ReadyNas 3200
Hi,
I'm new to this forum so please have patience. We have 4 or 5 of the 3200's running in our system and there is one we are having trouble with. The issue is noise. The fans were emitting an odd squeal which I assumed were the bearings burning up so I swapped out the offending fans with the exact same make and model fans from a parts supplier. The fan speed should be controlled by the temperature sensors but they seem to be running at full speed 24/7. The CPU temp is at 85 F and the Hard Drives 89 F. With temps this low the fans should drop down to have speed but they do not seem to do so. It has been a few days with the new fans in and they are still running full speed. I do not see any fan control for Raidar or the web admin for this model. This unit is still under warranty for a few months but I just want the temp senors to control the fans again. We have never installed console add-on and in the unit is housed in a remote location where the sound is an issue.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe 3200 has a 5 year warranty. I would contact support and see what they suggest. You may need to consider whether you'd prefer a refurb replacement via RMA or putting up with the issue (though with an issue like this I'd think if it's a hardware issue you'd want to try an RMA).
Welcome to the forum! - Marto731AspirantSSShhh,
How many disks are in 3200? Is it the full 12?
I can understand why the fans are on full speed, and it better to keep a lower temp, rather than let it drift higher.
It is generally the expectation that rackmount NAS are housed in server rooms, that are temperature controlled, and not within the audible vicinity of office workers.
So, I disagree with mdgm regarding noise.
So, give consideration to location and environment. Otherwise your other option is the add-on.

He didn't say anything about noise :?Marto73 wrote: So, I disagree with mdgm regarding noise.
FWIW, I agree that it is better to have the fans full on rather than full off.
Though the 3200 fan control should be working (as it does for the other 3200s the OP has), so contacting support makes sense to me. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe fans would run on all full speed, but I agree if the 3200 is operating differently to the other 3200s the O.P. has then there probably is a problem
