Readynas 428 disk showing in black color

I have a Netgear ReadyNAS 428 with 8 bays, previous it was a 6TBx5 disk installed with an x-raid 6 configuration. Today I have installed 6tb*3 new disks in it but 1 new disk started syncing in it but the rest of the 2 disks are showing in black color. Can anyone help me resolve why it is showing in black color? Is there any configuration to add the rest of the 2 disks with raid6?

Disks are added to the array one at a time, so you might just wait until the first finishes syncing, and see if it moves on to the second.

Did you ever have a 3 TB drive installed in the NAS before?  Normally added disks need to either be >= to the largest disk installed, or match the size of an existing disk.

Assuming all three disks eventually sync, you might want to post mdstat.log (after syncing is finished), and let us know the final volume size.  Than we can confirm if you actually have RAID-6 on all the RAID groups in the volume.  I have seen some posts in the past where users ended up with RAID-6 on one RAID group, and RAID-1 or RAID-5 on another.

How did you add the drives on your existing volume? Did you let the 1st drive to finish syncing? from what I understand on your description you inserted all 3 drives all at the same time? have you checked the logs or RAIDar on what is the current status of the NAS? You may have to wait for the NAS to finish syncing the 1st drive.

You may want to post screenshot of your Volume page in the admin page.

Marc_V StephenB  Thanks for your reply, 1st drive syncing is in progress, I am also waiting for syncing to be finished after that I will connect the other 2 drives one by one. I have just configured raid6 only.

Marc_V I didn't use 3 TB or drives in my nas. I have just installed 6TB drives only.

Marc_V StephenB  After syncing finished of 1st drive, I have connected 2nd drive & it is working fine and syncing done and third drive also syncing fine.
