ReadyNas 6.2 (NAS locks up entirely)
EDIT BY MODERATOR: Please see the post at the end of the thread: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=456217#p456217
I guess i am not the only one this is happening to!
everything worked fine for 6.1.9 (except for my root at 99% problem last month)
once I updated, I transferred aprox 2 gigs of information it locks up every time
all apps are working fine.
as a business owner i have come to the conclusion (with the amount of problems i have been having) ReadyNas is not meant for a reliable means of backing up seems majority of the fixes are "back everything up and factory reset!" I think that answer is as good as telling someone with computer problems to hit there computer a few times and see if it works.
now i have gone to support many times yes they are quite helpful but only within 90 days of purchase of the unit! then they insist that i pay for a extension of that support.... i have 3 IBM servers and when there hardware fails (one little problem with a driver one year later) they back up the reseller in making sure my system is back up and running within 48 hours (no they are not leased or have a protection plan)
If it wasent for the guys in the forums i would have beaten the system with a bat (please see Office space the movie)... sorry for the rant just truly frustrated with the system

How can I do this and where to send them to? - Retired_Member

Logs sent. - Retired_MemberI just noticed in the logs about 1 drive that might be failing.
I just ran and picked up 4x WD WD40EFRX 4TB hard drives that are on the supported list. We'll see if this does the trick.... - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan some of those of you still having issues try 6.2.3 beta: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=78866
- jsdepreyAspirantI have yet to have another lock up since I turned off snapshots, but I also opened a support ticket just to have them check my logs and the engineer said that maybe turning off DLNA could help because I was coping music to a folder where DLNA was on at the time of the lockup so DLNA indexing was happening.
I have also turned off DLNA since I really do not need it, and will wait and see if I have any other issues.
If I run with no issues for a long time, I might try turning on DLNA again. - tommylommytommyAspirantI just installed the 6.2.3 beta. Will leave the nas alone and see if it still keeps freezing up.
- kplatteAspirantYeah we have all snapshots turned off. Are backup that runs is large will take good 4+ hours to complete when the NAS doesn't lock up during it.
Will try the 6.2.3 beta tonight. - jzeeviAspirantI tried it, to no avail. It seems to lock up regardless of activity on the NAS (that is, doing something or not)
- tommylommytommyAspirantI'm not going to say it fixed things for me yet, that would be too early to conclude, but things are looking good. With 6.2.3 beta my nas, so far, hasn't locked up/frozen. It usually did within 30 minutes with no activity. Now it seems to keep ticking... will report back if it freezes up again though.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredBeta 2 is now available. If you use disk spin-down on a 4-bay or anti-virus on any model this would be worth trying even if you have already tried Beta 1.
