Readynas duo daisy chain to Thunderbolt issues
I need some help as I am in way over my head.
I upgraded to a new Macbook Pro with thunderbolt display. I also bought a Promise Pegasus DAS. I connected my Netgear NAS to the Promise with a Ethernet to Thunderbolt adapter.
Finder sees the Netgear as a shared device – both AFP and CIFS – but cannot open it to display the folders there.
The Netgear Raidar also sees the NAS with an IP address of 192.168.168.168. It cannot go the the setup as it says that the NAS is on a different subnet.
I have tried a lot of different options - manually changing everything, etc. but I cannot get it to work - see this thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2015989&p=-1&#bottom
Is there any way to make this work??
Pieter.

- pwopAspirantI did as I said and it worked!! Thank you!
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredGlad it's now working. Do note that the NAS can't connect to the Internet this way so you won't get any email alerts from the NAS

Thanks again! I never get email alerts.
Do you think it will be faster? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDefinitely faster than wireless. Shouldn't be much difference if you were using a wired gigabit Ethernet connection previously.
- pwopAspirantIt's me again. My Mac kept on losing the connection with my NAS when I tried the wireless backup or the option where I connected the Netgear to the Thunderbolt DAS drive.
I then connected the Mac with an Ethernet cable to the router (using the Thunderbolt display's ethernet connection) and also connected the NAS to the router. I then tried the backup (Time machine) again. This time the connection wasn't lost but the backup is VERY slow - it says it will take 7 days to backup 700GB.
Something must be wrong. Can anybody help?
