One option is to try support.netgear.com.
If you want to proceed on your own, I suggest trying shutting it down (brief button press first, if that doesn't work you can try a prolonged press which should shut it down after a few seconds).
If you are a PC user, you can then connect disk 1 to a PC and use http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/ to pull the data off. Then your data is safe...
Then reinsert the drive, and power up using the boot menu to bypass the file system check. Instructions are on page 15 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 6Dec11.pdf
