Many thanks, Vandermerwe, for the very helpful post. I had thought that the Duo was a v2 based on the sticker on the underneath of the unit but it turns out it's a v1.
I've not been able to access data on the hard drives because the NAS won't boot up but presumably I could use a USB caddy for this. The drives are Seagate Barracuda 2TB so I will look on the internet for the vendor tools.
With regard to the NAS boot menu, holding the power button does not allow me to access the boot menu. Instead, the lights keep flashing (all of them 3 times quickly then the left hand '1' light flashes twice slowly). Are there any ways that I could try to investigate what is preventing it from booting?
Any advice is welcome.
