ReadyNAS no longer available after firmware update to 6.8.0

ReadyNAS was upgraded from 6.6.1 to 6.8.1 from the admin page when prompted.

Shortly after contact was lost to the device. The admin page doesn't load, at first it comes with a message that it is offline and then never makes a reconnection. The shares are unavailable.  The RaidAr software doesn't find any NAS applicances on the network. But the IP address is pingable.

Clicking the power button on the front of the chasis doesn't make it blink allowing for a soft shutdown as stated in documentation. Power cycling from the main button on the backup brings the system up and with the admin page available for about 10 minutes. The system shows no failure or errors.

Between powercycling I have tried to turn off backup job and snapshots. Any suggestions on how to stabilize and make accessible again?

Perhaps try enabling ssh, and see if that access persists after the NAS goes non-responsive.  Also, try downloading the log zip file during the window that the web UI functions.

Any clues in the logs when it comes back up?  Does RAIDar still see it when it goes offline?

        Hello C_Ras,

One sign of hardware fault is the boot menu not responding, to access the NAS on read only mode will go to the same boot menu. If you cannot access the read only mode please try to boot the NAS on telnel/tech support mode with or without the hard drives inserted and check if the NAS wil respond.

I enabled SSH. It does not respond once the device stalls. When it did allow a connection the terminal crashed after briefly showing a welcome message.

I think you will need paid support for this.

Did you try booting up in "read-only" mode?  If that is stable, you could update (or make) a backup.
