ReadyNAS NV (4.1.7) failing disk - unable to copy files
Have started receiving the following messages on my 4 disk-NV Raid Level X:
Access to the disk on channel (??) is producing I/O errors. Although the array is still redundant, please replace this drive as soon as possible, as it is likely to fail soon.

A SATA reset has been performed on one or more of your disks that may have affected the RAID parity integrity. It is recommended that you perform a RAID volume resync from the RAID Settings tab ( accessible in the Volumes page => Volume tab in FrontView ). The resync process will run in the background, and you can continue to use the ReadyNAS in the meantime.
Since appearing, I have desperately being trying to back up the files to my Ultra Plus, but every time it tries to copy my outlook.pst file (the most important file i need), the NV stops in the middle of the copy and the NV appears to completely drop off the network. It cannot be browsed or ssh'd to until its rebooted.
What is the best course of action to be able to backup the files before replacing the disk? Is it ok to remove the disk A from the array and power on with only three disks to copy the files before replacing
? I really want to minimise the risk of loosing the data.

- Disk 1 is failing... Since you need a back up of your outlook.pst file, have you tried to copy & paste it from the ReadyNAS-NV to your PC?
- First I'd try drop/drag all the other files you need in that share. Try the drop/drag just the pst file as Ixa suggests.
Perhaps try teracopy, and use its verify function to check the copies.
The risk of removing disk 1 is that if there is another drive on the edge you would lose the rest of the data. so its best to get all the data you can off the system before you remove it. - hi ,
thanks for the prompt reply.
I've tried dragging and dropping just using explorer to my pc ( aswell as command prompt copy) and that's what causes the device to drop out. I also ssh'd into the nv and tried to copy (CP) from there, but i got the same dropping out result.
I'll try and use teracopy and see if that helps.
