Readynas NV+: messed up after apt-upgrade
Hi all,
I have a readynas NV+ (sparc).
I had SSH enabled and did the horrible mistake of doing apt-get upgrade --- boom, the system got messed up.
I am only able to SSH in now via the default root password (it was reset). I have a critical directory called "home storage" that I'd like to back up before doing a factory install. However, it is not accessible. Please help!!
I see the mapping of home storage in /C but when I get to it, it is not there - I assume its some disk that is not mounted. I use RaidX

- arjunrcAspirantHello, never mind. I managed to recover the system miraculously by installing and running mdadm
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou should still backup your data if you can access it and do a factory reset (wipes all data, settings, everything), then restore your data from backup.
We don't support doing an apt-get upgrade and your system may be unstable. - arjunrcAspirant

Thanks mdgm, agreed.
Would you know if I can download a readynas version (NV+ Sparc) that has kernel support for iptables? I use it as my openVPN server and I need iptables for some routing issues I am facing. Just installing iptables does not work as the current kernel does not support itFirmware: RAIDiator 4.1.10 [1.00a043]
readyNAS:~# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.17.14ReadyNAS (root@calzone) (gcc version 3.3.5 (Infrant 3.3.5-1)) #1 Wed Jun 20 20:08:20 PDT 2012 - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThere is newer firmware for your NAS than what you are running.
Sparc is long EOL (End-Of-Life).
You would likely have more success with newer hardware, however it's not something we would support. - arjunrcAspirantThanks. The latest firmware I saw is 4.1.13 which I upgraded to, but no iptables.
I guess I'll just move my openvpn to another server till I finally upgrade the NAS.
Thank you.
