ReadyNAS NV+ RND 4000 relocating hard drives to Netgear RN21400-100NES
Good Day
I had a ReadyNAS NV+ RND 4000, but it was struck by lightening and so the machine does not work anymore, I have had the hard drives tested and was told they are fine. My insurance is replacing it with the ReadyNas 21400-100NES, I want to know will I be able to take my hard drives from my old Nas and put them into this new one be able to ready my data on them. I cannot loose the data on the 4 hard drives. Or is there a way of backing up that data to and external drive first? I do not have the old Nas machine anymore as the insurance took it for scrap. If i put the hard drives into the new Nas will the Nas 21400 format the hard drives automatically?
Thanks.

You can't just migrate the disks - they are formatted very differently.
There is way to offload the data with help from support. You will need enough storage to copy the data - this just gives you a way to mount the volume so it can be copied. http://kb.netgear.com/29876/ReadyNAS-Migrating-disks-from-RAIDiator-4-1-or-RAIDiator-5-3-to-ReadyNAS-OS-6?cid=wmt_netgear_organic
