ReadyNAS NV+ RND4250 not powering... options to recover data
Dear community,
I went on holidays and decided to power off my readynas nv+. Now back from holidays, the filer does not start. I can hear the electric 'click' when i plug the power in, but the power button is unresponsive.
Sadly for me, I did not run a backup before leaving, so I'll need to retrieve the data from the 2x500GB HDDs.
I have just raised a support case to Netgear, but reading through the forum, it looks like if it's a PSU issue, NetGear does not send them anymore, despite the HW warranty expiring in 2015...
So what are my options? Please help me understanding the exact procedure steps..
0 - wait for NetGear support to confirm on HW replacement options
1- buy another nv+ (v1) frame and try to swap the PSUs?
2- buy another nv+ (v1) frame and try to move the HDDs? (I read some FW requirements between source and target frames?)
thanks in advance for your answers...
Kind regards,
Alex Rappoport

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSupport should be able to replace the PSU or send a replacement chassis if the unit is still under a HW warranty.
Put a spare disk in the replacement unit (if you get a replacement chassis), put a spare disk in (must not be from your array) and make sure that the firmware is at least as up to date as it was in your old unit, then power down, remove the spare disk and migrate your array across.
