ReadyNAS NV+ Won't Boot
As of this mornig, I couldn't connect to my NAS. Looks like it was trying to reboot and it gets to 33.7% and hangs. Before it gets to that point, I can find it with RAIDer, but I can't connect to it. After it gets to the point where it hangs, RAIDer can no longer detect it and I can't shut down at that point....I have to unplug it!!! That can't be good.
Has four 750GB drives in it that are set up in an X-RAID config. Last time I looked it had about 500GB of its 2TB of capacity utilized.
I don''t have a back-up of the data. Thought I was protected from a single drive failure, but appear to be screwed by the complete NAS loosing connectivity.
What can I do?
Tried removing the drives....When it tries to boot in that config it says "Error: No Drives" but I still can''t connect.
Can I try booting with one drive removed at a time?
Also, thought about trying to do a force boot in "Skip Volume Check" mode but am afraid that might cause data loss.
Any help would be appreciated.
Can I send this to NETGEAR and pay to have my data recovered?

Based on manual (here) and my experience - OS reinstall cold help and it is not affecting the data.
See the manual, page 16
OS reinstall Reinstalls the firmware from the internal flash to the disks. Use the OS reinstall boot mode when the system crashes and corrupts some configuration files. OS reinstall boot mode also resets some settings on your unit, such as Internet protocol settings and the administrator password, to defaults.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately I tried that when I was looking at the Skip Volume Check option.
Display showed "Updating FW" or something like that and then it started booting again.
Got to:
Booting....
FS Check: 33.7%
and then stopped again.
Any other ideas??

Being in your shoes I think I will give a try to 'Skip volume check'. Your data should be safe.
Skip volume check After a system crash, the system tries to scan and fix the volume using a file system check. If several problems are found on a disk, this process can stall, causing the system not to boot. Use this option to skip the scan and let the system boot.

It is quite frustrating that I am unable to boot the machine to gain access to the drives, even if all of my data may be still stored on them.
The recovery program I read about requires you to remove the disks from your network-attached storage (NAS) and then connect them to a workstation, after which you run the recovery software. Is that something that works well or has a good chance of working for my circumstances?

robertseal149 , please start your own thread and give details on just what your NAS does or does not do so we can help you. First, lets see if we can get your NAS to boot. If it won't, there are multiple ways to recover the data.
