readynas nvx rndx4210 not recognised by RAIDar

Hi,

I have got used readynas nvx rndx4210.

Done the factory reset, NAS took the IP from DHCP, I can see it in the LAN as well as it's default share folders.

The problem is, I can't get to the management interface of it. Tried the Netgear website, can't find it. Tried the RAIDar, can't find it.

I figured, perhaps I have to update the FW to the latest version. Found somewhere instructions of how to do this only with USB stick. Tried to follow Netgear's instructions from here: https://kb.netgear.com/29952/How-do-I-use-the-USB-Recovery-Tool-on-my-ReadyNAS-OS-6-storage-system but for some reason the recovery tool can't see the image.

Even though I can see the NAS in LAN without the problem, I tried to connect it directly to this same router and then run RAIDar but it still can't see it.

I love this product, seems to do everything by itself but for some reason, without getting to it's UI, I can't trust it, won't put any data on it.

Does anyone have any othr ideas of how I can get to management console of this NAS?

Thanks,

Sly

And to further empahsize, you also don't have a system that can be updated to OS6.  If you try using the OS4.2 to OS6 upgrade instructions, you'll brick the NAS.  The NVX is a 32-bit system and OS6 only runs on 64-bit systems.  But the upgrade process won't warn you of that (it assumes you've read the instructions).

And since you have an older OS4.2 system,. you also don't have ReadyCloud to discover the NAS in that way ot to use it for remote access.

What happens when you browse to https://nas-ip-address/admin?

When I browse to that address, I login straight to the management console of the NAS :-D.

      Damn, that was easy.

Thanks a lot for your help!

      Regards,

      Sly
