readynas pro will not start for a period of time #24335186

Hi, I'm John. Have a ReadyNAS pro that had exhibited some strange behavior and am wondering if others have seen the condition too.

When the ReadyNas has been unplugged for a period of time more than a couple days, when power is supplied to the readynas pro it will not start for a period of time. About 20 minutes or so it just sits there...then boom the readynas starts.

The other behavior that I see which may be related is that the readynas will not power off when shut down. It will reboot. So to safely shut the device down I shut it down and remove the power as it turns off momentarily.

Anyone have an idea what might be causing this behavior?

I think you might have a failing PSU.

What version of RAIDiator are you running?

    Welcome to the forum!
  • Thanks I am running RAIDiator 4.2.27. Is there any way to tell for sure, if the PSU is failing?

Can you send me your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

    When did you purchase this?

It looks like you never registered it.
  • Back in 2009ish. I have several of them. Never bothered to register them since I didn't have a problem until the warranty period ended...

If it was a Pro Business Edition it had a 5 year warranty from the date of purchase
  • I am told by the support folks they believe this problem to be related to the software. Does anything strike you as glaring in the logs? Another options I have is to reinstall the software on the readynas pro if that would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    John

This sounds more like a hardware issue to me.

If you power down, remove your disks and label the order, and put a spare disk (must not be from your array) in do you still have this issue?
