ReadyNas refusing to connect
Hi Folks,
I have, yes very old, ReadyNAS-NV. I think the last firmware update was V4.2.28.
I recently moved house and updated to windows 10, obviously not a good idea to do both at the same t...

RAIDar shows that you have a NV+ v1 ReadyNAS running the current (and likely final) 4.1.16 firmware.
Try this on the win7 machine:
Run the command prompt (CMD). That will open a black text window.
type
net use * /delete
net use t: \\192.168.0.5\C /user:admin nas-admin-password
using the real admin password of the NAS of course. Be careful on the different slash directions and the spaces.
The first command will terminate any open network sessions. If it prompts, tell it to proceed. The second command attempts to mount the NAS data volume as drive letter T on the PC. Let us know what happens.

Really sorry, tried to upload pictures on here, cant even seem to manage that.
So, if this works, I attach a photo of the back of the nas drive and a photo of the 4.3.8 status:

Many thanks.
On win 7 machine
1) 1st command response:
There are no entries in the list
2) 2nd command response
System error 53 has occured.
The network path was not found.
(Yet, the nas drive shows up on the router attached device list and on Raidar 6.3.0 utility as healthy.)

That is a normal response, it just means that there was nothing to terminate.

It is worth trying both commands again (double-checking the typing), since sometimes that error will result from mistyping (for instance using // instead of \\).
If you recall a sharename, perhaps also try net use t: \\192.168.0.5\sharename /user:admin nas-admin-password

That of course is a good thing, but a healthy RAID array doesn't mean you can access it.
What happens when you enter https://192.168.0.5/admin into your web broswer? You will need to click through the security warnings, but after that you should get a username/password prompt in a popup.

Firstly, many many thanks for all your help.
[It is worth trying both commands again (double-checking the typing), since sometimes that error will result from mistyping (for instance using // instead of \\).]
Did try again, and copy and pasted your exact script as well - gave same result.
[What happens when you enter https://192.168.0.5/admin into your web broswer? ]
Did this a few times, same message each time 'connection refused'
This is now solved:
1) I took a leap of faith and decided to do an OS reinstall, by pushing the reset button at the back while booting up until the lights flashed ONCE only.
https://kb.netgear.com/24874/How-do-I-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-ReadyNAS-Duo-NV-NV-X6-or-600
2) It worked, I could acces via browser. The password was reset to default to netgear1.
3) There was a bit of a faf trying to get access to exsiting volumes, but managed to get access via my new admin password.
4) managed to map the drivers on windows explorer. (still seems to play up a bit, in that sometimes the maps reconnect and sometimes do not.)
But all in all managed to get access to all my files, it seems the front end browser on the HDD may have been corupt.
Many thanks Stephen, hope this helps others.
Kindest Regards
