ReadyNas Ultra 2, firmware 4.2.30, suddenly starts to create snap-shots.

Have run my ReadyNas for several years.

A couple of months ago it (without my action) created snap-shots of the shares. I have in vain tried several methods to delete them.

I communicate with the nas via Raidar 4.3.0. There is no way in that edition (as I have found) either to create a snap nor delete it!

  • I spent a lot of time tying to correct the system and I am now fed up with it.

    It's time for the sledge hammer!;

    1. Copy all files, 1 TB data, to an external drive.

    2. Factory reset the ReadyNas including flashing the OS from the internal memory.

    3. Re-write the hard drives with zeros and re-format.

    4. Completely new set up of the ReadyNas.

    5. Copy all files back to origin place.

    Finished and ready to go! Problem solved. Case closed!

    Perhaps run the Online Filesystem Consistency check again and see if that clears it up.

      Thanks for your advice.

      I run the "Disk cleaning with automatic parity correction" and the "Online Filesystem Consistency check" directly I found a normal delete did not function.

      To be absolutely sure I run the "Online Filesystem Consistency check" once more, just before writing this. Unfortunately no cure.....
