ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus discontinued???
Hi.
I got me an Ultra 2 Plus half a year ago as an upgrade from a DUO. With that upgrade I got much faster performance. I've really appreciated the dual core processor, because I've got multiple PC clients accessing the file shares, a few IP cameras FTP:ing pictures to it and also running Squeezebox server with the Spotify plugin.
However, it died on me a few days ago. It was no longer accessible on the network, and no action on the Act or disk LED:s. Tried rebooting and resetting to factory defaults, but it was still dead. Handed it in to the dealer where I got it (inet.se in Sweden) and they came to the same conclusion. OK, I thought, then I'll have to do without it for some time until it's fixed and I get it back. But they told me that this model is disontinued and cannot be repaired. I was surprised by this and did some reseach on the web. As it turns out:
- Cannot find any mention of this model being discontinued anywhere.
- However, only found 1 single Swedish web store that would sell it, and that to a ridiculous high price. So it looks like I couldn't get one from anywhere else either.
The regular Ultra 2 (single-core non-Plus model) is however available from a number of dealers. And that is what I ended up getting back, plus a refund for the price difference to the Plus. Slotted the disks into the new one and was up and running in a few minutes.
So I am now running a single-core, and I can see some things being slower than before. Missing the Plus... :(
Anyone else heard of the Ultra 2 Plus being discontinued??? Or is there some new 2-disk, dual-core product on its way to replace it?

- That's odd. I've been shopping around for a Ultra 2+, and I haven't heard anything. I am currently seeing the Ultra 2+ on the NETGEAR website, and these are readily available on Amazon (among others) in the US.
