Ok so there is a procedure for usb boot recovery on RAIDiator 4.2 ^^
If you did factory default and it still doesn't work, there might be an issue with the firmware package stored on the flash (the factory default extracts it on the HDDs). Is the NAS still under hardware warranty? You can check from your my.netgear.com account.

unfortunately I think its like 3 years old or more, so I do not think there is still HW warranty?! :-(

The hardware warranty is 3 years, so perhaps you should check the actual purchase date.
