ReadyNAS Ultra 4 & HP Laserjet 1010

Hello,

I have a issue with my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 and my HP Laserjet 1010. Since today the whole construct is no longer working. There was no change done by me over the past times (only some Windows Updates where done).

Issue:
- When I try to print something, I can select the printer connected via USB to the NAS, then the Windows OS said the file is send to the printer. However the queue remains empty and nothing is printed out so far.
- Printer IS recognized by the ReadyNAS in the Frontview and in the LCD display

Troubleshooting:
- Tried a reboot
- Tried a NAS restart
- Tried switching on and off from the USB printer
- Connected my Laserjet via USB to the Computer -> It was working

So if anybody has some good tips to troubleshoot the issue please share them with me, as I have absolutely no idea why it is no longer working :(.

Note:
I just checked and the Firmware from ReadyNAS is up to date

  • I just got it working again. In the past I used the following in the "add printer dialog":

    http://<my readyNAS IP>:631/printers/HP_LaserJet_

This seamed to be no longer working. However the following:

    \\<my readyNAS IP>\HP_LaserJet_

I will post the one above as it maybe will help others to solve the issue as well. However its strange why the http methode is no longer working :-(.
