About 2 weeks ago my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 started dropping it's connection to all the computers in my house every few hours or so. It also becomes unresponsive. While I can see the CIFS and AFS shares be...

Right now I have no add-ons enabled. I shut everything down except for CIFS and AFP. As far as other stuff I've installed; I have root ssh (so I could check some things like run top and check disk free) and Plex Server but I shut Plex down about a year ago and haven't started it since. I also had Ready NAS Remote running but I stopped that too. I'm not using my NAS for Time Machine even though I have Mac's in the house.
What I did notice today from my Mac is that while my share was connected using CIFS my transfers where much slower than when I was using AFP (seemed about half speed). Also ran into an issue where iTunes hangs trying to play any of my songs while the share is mounted over CIFS and wouldn't let me add anything new to my library. I checked and my CIFS is setup for read/write but iTunes was acting the way it does when a drive is read only. I was able to create new files and folders on the share from Finder so I can definitely write to the share. I unmounted my media share from CIFS and remounted with AFP and iTunes seems to be behaving again and transfer speeds are back to normal.
Now that the mount is back using AFP I'll see if the shares disconnect and the NAS hangs up again.
