Here's an old windows article on the master browser topic -https://support.microsoft.com/kb/188001 Though dated, AFAIK its still correct.
There are 5 ways to reach the NAS from a newer version of windows:
(a) select the NAS from the left pane of windows explorer. My guess is that is the one that isn't working for you.
(b) Open "computer" and select "map network drive" from the pulldown menu
(c) Open "computer" and right click on the large pane, selecting "add a network location"
(d) Enter \\nasname\sharename in the address bar of windows explorer (or \\nasipaddress\sharename)
(e) create a desktop shortcut that links to \\nasname\sharename
