ReadyNAS104 not recognizing external hard drive

Question

I have a Ready NAS 104 using OS 6.6.1.&nbsp;I am attempting to hook up a Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking Station with a 1TB HDD. The HDD was previously used as one of my internal drives.&nbsp;The message I get in my system log is:&nbsp;External Storage Device is connected but the file system is not recognized.&nbsp;How can I access the external device so that I can utilize it?&nbsp;&nbsp;ThanksThanks

You could try to format it from the NAS. But, of course that would wipe it, so it's only a solution if the drive is empty (or if you back up what's on it).

I am not able to format the HDD from the NAS server.

Why? Does it show an error? You don't have the option&nbsp;to format?Can you post a screenshot?

Here is one of the messages in the log:&nbsp;External storage device is connected but the file system is not recognized.&nbsp;I am not able to access the HDD to format it on my NAS server.&nbsp;I tried to attach a couple of screen shots; but I am not able to.

PNG and JPG screenshots can be attached using the insert/edit image control in the posting toolbar (immediatly to the right of the hyperlink "chain" icon).
