ReadyNAS3200 Backup Job Failure

I have a pair of ReadyNAS 3200. I want to schedule a backup job from one to the other. I configure the job. After setting up and applying the job configuration I test the connection using the "Test Connection" button to the remote NAS and the test is successful, it returns "Successfully Connected". When I try to run the job it fails, this is recorded in the log

Backup failed. Mon Feb 11 14:42:09 CST 2013.

Reason for failure:
Unable to access remote path

    Byerleydm,

Make sure you are putting in the correct share name in the "path". If you wanted to backup your share to say the remote share "backup" in the "path" line enter backup

What protocol are you using for the backup job (e.g. NFS)?
  • At the end of step 2 you can "test connection" - it says it can connect to the remote share. But when you try to run the job it says it fails to connect to the remote share.
Here is the job configuration -
STEP 1 - Select backup source volume: c

    Share SqlBackupsShare:
    Path:
    Login:
    Password:

STEP 2 - Select backup destination

Specify where you want your backup data saved. As with the backup source, the destination path can be a share on this device or a path on a remote PC or device.

    Remote: Windows/NAS (Timestamp)Remote: Host - NAS2
    Path: FromNAS1
    Login:
    Password:

STEP 3 - Choose backup schedule

I would suggest using NFS rather than Windows/NAS (Timestamp). ReadyNAS units are Linux boxes so why not use a native Linux protocol for backups? You would need to enable NFS on NAS2 under Services > Standard File Protocols and under Shares > Share Listing > FromNAS1 > NFS.
  • I tried the NFS protocal first yesterday and could not get it to connect when testing the connection. I tried again this morning and it connected to the share, I was able to successfully run the job. Thanks for everyone's responce.
