What about your "Workstation" and "Server" services? Try to make sure those are enabled.
CIFS is usually not where your viruses come from. They're usually from opening an unknown file either off the web or in your email inbox.
I guess my OT question is: is it because CIFS is dead that my machine has survived without an infection for quite some time?
