ReadyNV: Can´t get out the Tray...
Hi Folks,
seems to me i´m stupid. Due to a diskfailure i like to replace a HardDisk#2. But I can´t get the Tray out. Tried to push the Button and tried to do it with a paper clip. No latch comes out. It don´t even moves for one inch.
Any Trick or Idea?
Thanx!

- brnt15AspirantHi,
I have found that if when I slide the drive in I am careful push it in without pushing on the lever until after it is all the way in, the button works the next time I try it.
Good luck! - johns11AspirantI just found this thread, and was able to use the paper clip trick to get the trays out of my NV+. But no amount of fiddling has restored the function of the buttons. Without taking the mechanism apart, it looks to me like the ramps on the button/slider interface were badly designed and/or the coil spring tension is too high -- IOW, that there is a design defect.
MY unit is out of warranty, but this is a real PITA. - chirpaLuminaryAll your trays doing it, or just one/two?
- johns11AspirantAll of 'em.

Is anyone from Infrant/Netgear monitoring this board anymore? - jebiAspirantThis happened to me as well. Today I wasn't able to release three of the four hdd trays while dusting out the unit. It took me a while to figure out but I remembered reading this post when researching the readynas so I came back to get the details.
After getting the latches released, I unscrewed the hdds and plastic releases from the trays. I then sprayed the release mechanisms with silicone and compressed air. Now the sliding bit inside the trays' release door slides again. Let's see how long it will take for dust to collect and jam the release button!
Hey does anyone know if these trays were re-designed on newer units?
-JEBi - clambertAspirantThe same thing is happening to me. Managed to get them out with the paperclip, but now one of them doesn't latch closed all the way when I reinsert it. The latch closes flush, but doesn't "hook", and pops back out again. Any ideas? Can I upgrade my trays for more functional ones?
- Chris - marc_gayleAspirantDoes anyone have that picture that was posted before? Because now the thumbnail is broken and my trays are stuck :(
