Remote file sharing for friends/family
I will explain what i would like to do and you guys can either deliver good news or pop my bubble.
i want to create my own share "box" folders with friends. i would like if there was a way i could map this "folder" onto their computers at their own PC's/Macs. Or almost just as good, a browser bookmark to the shared folder(s).
for example. i took a vacation with my girlfriend and our other friend. i would like to create a user account for my gf and another for my friend.
when my GF goes to her bookmark and logs in with her credentials, she would see a page with a folder titled "hawaii 2015" as well as some other folders i will give her access too. when our other friend logs in with her own user name she would only see the "hawaii 2015" folder (with the possibility of me giving access to more folders in the future). it would be nice if the user could add to the shared folder, but being able to view/download would be 90% of the battle.
i have os 6, and i believe the latest update.
currently i have turned on FTP and HTTP sharing. i have also enabled port forwarding on my router.
so as of now, i personally can log onto my Nas interface from anywhere (using my external IP), and from a PC browser i can navigate to my shared folders and download items. though this does not work on the ipad. i basically want a few users (5-10) to be able to do the same thing but without having to give them full access to my nas to do so. just a browser link or mapped drive to a single or a few folders.
thank you,
Carlos
i also want to let you know, i am still very new at using a NAS, so i would appreciate detailed steps with any tips you may have. i swear learning all the features can give me a headache sometimes.

- NhellieVirtuosoI think ReadyCloud would be the best option here (I am assuming, you want the other users to access the files remotely). Check this link for more information:

Like Nhellie mentioned ReadyCLOUD covers pretty much all points you asked for. By using ReadyCLOUD you can allow remote access to specific shares while eliminating the need to use port forwarding or to have knowledge of your current IP address. Different ReadyCLOUD user can have access to a different set of shares if you wish.
If you follow all three links within the link of the previous post then you should be all set. Once you have logged-in to the ReadyCLOUD website you can also download the ReadyCLOUD App. Using the App give you the normal share access plus the ability to automatically synchronise and backup folders of you PC / Mac client with the ReadyNAS.
If you have further questions please ask.
Bye,
Eskender
