Restriping, 120 hours?
Hi all, I know my Pro Pioneer is ancient and I hope to replace it soon. But in the meantime I replaced a drive and it is now restriping. I know that it takes a while to restripe, but is 120 hours ...

Thanks for the reply. I have four disks total, one which I replaced yesterday afternoon and it's now at 15%, but saying 115 hours, but it's really been closer to 12 at this point, so I guess that's off. The other three disks are showing healthy, one at 41k hours and the other two at 15k hours. Reallocated sectors is 0 for the three disks (obviously I can't see the new disk).
Guess I'm just going to cross my fingers for now. At least I have a backup.

What disks are you using (including the new one)?

They're all WD/EFRX drives, all red. Before replacing, I had 2 2tb drives (from ~2013?) and 2 3tb drives (2017?). Yesterday I swapped a 2tb for a 4tb drive. Knowing that the 2tbs were older, I wanted to be prepared so last year I bought 2 4tb drives with the intention of replacing both 2tb drives, and I'm finally getting around to it. I've only been using this machine for file backup/storage (edit: and Sonos), but for that purpose it's mostly been trouble free, so I don't think about it a lot.

Ok. The WD40EFAX (newer than the EFRX) is an SMR drive, and that could take quite a bit longer to sync.
Yours do appear to be syncing pretty slowly. You could download the log zip file, and see if the smart info is in there (or if there are disk errors showing up in system.log or kernel.log).

Confirmed, no "A" in the name, not SMR drives.
Logs checked, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary or saying Error.
I did see this a bunch of times in the system.log:
Jun 23 13:51:56 nas kernel: md: delaying reshape of md6 until md5 has finished (they share one or more physical units)
but that was yesterday and there's nothing there for today except for renewing dhcp lease.
