resurrecting a RNV2-S2-0000
I found an old RNV2-S2-0000 that a co-worker was throwing out, and I was wanting to reuse it. bad thing is that it was only the box. I would like to know if I could buy the lockable trays for it? also...

Sure. What you need is the RND4TRAY1. It's available direct from NetGear: http://store.netgear.com/store/netgear/en_US/pd/productID.124539100
I recommend:
1. Put one disk in the NAS
2. If necessary do a factory default using the boot menu (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu)
3. Upgrade to latest RAIDiator (currently 4.1.8: http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_4_1_8_Notes
4. Power down and put rest of disks in NAS
5. Do a factory default using the boot menu (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu)
This will give you a clean setup on the latest firmware.
Be sure to choose your disks from the HCL
