RN102 - Management service offline after 6.2.3 update
Hi,
I'm running a RN102, NV+ and a RN104 at work, and I updated the RN102 to 6.2.3 today, as soon as I saw that there was a new firmware available.
The installation was unsuccessful, and I got an error message teling me to reboot the device. I rebooted it, and the power-LED began flashing blue (which it still does, an hour later).
I am unable to logon to the admin-interface, the device responds to ping and I am able to browse the smb-shares. When using RAIDar, I am getting the error Management srevice is offline", this message appear after the device has been online for ~2-3 minutes - before that no errors.
I have not yet tried to do a factory reset or anything, I thouhgt I'd try my luck here first.
Screenshot of the error-message from the admin-page aswell as RAIDar:

Cheers,

RN102 - Management service offline after 6.2.3 update

- hhublerAspirantWe have 10 of the 2120 ReadyNAS devices.
Someone in our IT department attempted the 6.2.3 update.
No one will admit they did. So I have two questions and hope I can get direction from the forum members who have the same issue on how to resolve.
First, is there any way or any settting the will trigger the NAS devices to automatically upgrade the firmware?
Second. I am now faced with the same "Managment service offline" problem.
If I reboot the device, I can see it in RAIDar for a minute showing version 6.2.3 of the firmware. It will then go to the status of Management service is offline.
I am able to ping the device. I am able to browse the network and view the shared folders on the device. If I attempt to create a folder or write data to the device I get "There is not enough space on the disk"
I would appreciate any advice and direction on how to correct this problem. I have downloaded the 6.2.3 firmware from the Netgear website and have it on USB. I am not sure if I can initiate a firmware from the boot menu. Just looking in to that.
Please advise.
Hank - hhublerAspirantI went ahead and sacrificed one of the non-working devices.
First I tried the "OS Restore" that did NOT work.
Second I tried the "Factory Reset" and that did the trick. THIS WILL ERASE YOUR DATA. USE THIS OPTION WITH EXTREME CAUTION.
It seems to be up and running fine now. This will require the device to be completly setup again.
This is NOT the solution if you have data on the device that you want. It WILL ERASE ALL DATA. In our case we only use them for backup. I will try some other less destructive options on the other unit and post if I find a better solution. - bamakojeffAspirantI have an RN 102 with the same problem. Upgraded to 6.2.3 and now the Admin Page is offline. Everything else works fine. I do have SSH access and the logs show readynasd segfaulting repeatedly and systemd restarting it over and over. Admin Page can't load because of "Premature end of script headers: dbbroker.cgi". I'd really rather not do a Factory Reset if there's a fix for this. :-)
TIA - NhellieVirtuosoThis can probably be fixed by logging in to TelNet or SSH, the best way is to contact support for now.
- shhambrookAspirantHi, Same management service problem after multiple attempts to update software to 6.2.3 on a Readynas 102, including factory resets.
In addition the box sometimes freezes, requiring a hard reset.
This after running properly for a period of time.(hours not days).
Unless box has frozen, fault can be cleared by soft off and then on.
Prior to 6.2.3 I ran 6.2.3 Beta T1773 with no problems.
Any Thoughts?? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retiredhhubler and shhambrook I have sent you PM's.
The firmware will not automatically be updated but when you open the web admin interface you will be automatically prompted to update if there is an update available. You can choose to decline to update. We have removed 6.2.3 from the update server so you should not be automatically prompted to update any systems you have not updated already.
bamakojeff I see support has sent you an email update to your case. - GGITechApprenticeI am having the same issue.
RAIDar shows that I am on 6.2.2
Timemachine backup works....
This happened a few weeks ago, but I just got around to monkeying with it.
As far as I know, SSH was never enabled.
I could format it and start from scratch, but I would rather not. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredGGITech, on 6.2.2 it would be a different issue to the one on 6.2.3, but I can take a look. Just sent you a PM.
