RN102 No Longer Accessible via Device Web Page

In recent days, I've experienced intermittent problems connecting with my RN102.  This is a backup NAS for my RN214 (which recently had it's own connectivity issues) so nothing runs on this NAS.  The Shares are duplicates of my RN214.

This arrangement has worked well for many years.  Now, the RN102 goes "OFFLINE" according to ReadyCloud which means I am unable to connect to the ADMIN page of the NAS via my Web browser.  It also means that the RN214 cannot connect with the RN102 for RSYNC backups.

Every so often, I get lucky and can re-establish connect to the Admin page.  Backups from the RN214 run fine.

The odd thing is, that during these "OFFLINE" sessions, RAIDAR 6.5 sees the NAS as being on.  My WIN10 desktop also sees the RN102 as being online as I am able to access the files on the NAS.  I can also PING the NAS without a problem.

I just can't access the ADMIN page which also means that backups fail.

I've tried several re-boots and cold restarts but nothing seems to fix this.  The NAS runs cool in the server rack so don't think it's a heat issue.

Any ideas on what might be going on?

I think I found the problem:  Another device on my home network (the camera security system) was using the same IP address.  The RN102 was given a static IP address under IPv4 so I'm surprised this happened.  I thought that once you set a static IP address, no other device could use it.

Nope, that's not the way it works.  The router has no knowlege that you've set a static IP on a device -- it believes that IP to be available for assignment unless you conjfigure the static IP outside of the range you've allowed for DHCP in the router or reserve it.  That's one reason address reservation in the router is a better way to go (it actually makes no sense to do that and set a static IP, though I mentioned that possibility earlier).  The other advantage is that if you change the router and the new one uses a different subnet, you don't lose access to the NAS because it's on the wrong one.

What firmware are you running (including any hotfixes)?

According to RAIDAR 6.5 (since I can't access the NAS), I'm running 6.10.5.  I do recall that
all hotfixes have been applied but will check next time the NAS is accessible.

Actually, just got in again briefly.  Hotfix 1 was applied and no updates are available.

I see to be able to 'spoof' the NAS by accessing one of the folders in the shares through my WIN10 web browser.  Then, after scrolling
through the varous backup files, I can then launch the Admin page.  It usually fires up for about 1 minute but then goes offline again.

That's the method I used to check the firmware hotfix.
