I think you are confusing the AV plus app with the AV service. the AV service cannot be uninstalled.
Look on the services section of the system->settings page. You'll see the AV service there, and if it has a green stripe across it, then it is still enabled.

Ooooops - sorry - you're right - the service was still running - I thought there was only the App...
Duh - will try again to see if it makes a diff.
Tell me, having both the app and service, isn't that overkill to a degree? Shouldn't it be only one or the other?

The app was added later on, because some users were wanting more controls than what was in the service settings. I agree it would have been cleaner if they had provided advanced settings for the service instead.
