RN104 Can't access the admin page

I haven't been able to access the admin page since the start of the year. I've read one thread where a user gave instructions using Putty to access via SSH, but I don't believe that it is enabled as it comes back saying connection refused.

I can access my files fine via Windows explorer and the two friends that I've allowed access can access everything perfectly fine. Same goes when accessing via my own admin credentials when away from home on my phone. Also no issues streaming media to my TV and WD TV Live box. I just can't access the admin page. I've tried installing the 6.2.3 beta firmware from one thread. Can't get it installed. It also seems that this happened after my last firmware update. I know many have said that it started after that update and they deleted an app. As far as I can remember I hadn't deleted anything. I've done at least 3 OS reinstalls and still nothing. I talked to a tech via online chat a couple weeks ago and got the impression that they don't give a flying f and only want to extort for money. On what planet they think 70 bucks is a "reasonable" charge for what seems to be an issue that they caused, is beyond me. I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out after reading thread after thread and nothing seeming to work. Is there anyway that I can back door into the thing to fix this or am I just going to have to cough up the extortion money with NetGear? I'm honestly to the point where my money would be better spent on another brand NAS and/or hdd to back up the data from the one in the unit and then do a factory reset

My biggest worry is that when I do get around to installing another drive into the unit (currently its just one 4TB and only about 100gb free left) that I'll *need* admin access. But it would be nice to be able to add other users access to the box as well.

I'd also like to apologize if this is something that I could have asked in an existing thread rather than create a new one.

Looks like you uninstalled the pydio app.

    Fixed.

Please don't uninstall any further apps until after updating to 6.2.3.
  • I ran across this post looking for a solution to my similar problem. RN516, 6.2.2, "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED" when I try to access the admin page via web browser after uninstalling an app. I've replicated the situation on multiple computers and multiple browsers. SSH is not enabled, I have no access to the UI via the browser. The shares still work, thank goodness, but i need the admin capabilities back. Where do I go from here?

If you were hit with the 6.2.2 uninstall bug (which sounds very likely), then support should fix this for no charge.  If they don't, you can escalate.

A work-around which will work is possible, but requires a scratch disk.

    • remove all existing drives, labeling them by slot
    • insert the scratch disk, and do the normal factory install.
    • upgrade the system to run either 6.2.4 or 6.2.5 beta
    • shutdown the system, remove the scratch disk, and reinsert the original disks.
    • then power up.

The NAS should upgrade the existing disks to use the new OS, and that will restore the UI.

  • I have just bought RN104 about 2 weeks ago and upgrade the firmware to 6.24 from the start. It was working fine until now. I haven't uninstall any apps. Now I cannot access admin page. The power button is not responding either. I can still access the share folder and stream the media. Any help to solve this problem? Thanks.

How are you trying to access the admin page, through Raidar?

What happens when you click on Admin page in Raidar?

      Do you have a backup?

Although your problem seems similar to the title in the thread, it is better to start a new thread rather than add to an existing thread.  This is particularly important on the new forum.

  • Ok I downloaded the Raidar, install it on my PC and it found my NAS then I can restart the NAS and all seem fine now.

I had this also the morning after I setup and installed my readynas 102.

Could use file browser to move files but no Internet Browser admin page.

The DHCP server on my router had changed the IP address after 24 hours and the link/bookmark I made was no longer pointing to the correct address.

      Hope this helps.

Most routers support Address Reservation - that will ensure that the DHCP address won't be changed.

Static addresses is another approach, but address reservation is a better way to go.  It lets you manage the address space from one device (the router), and also ensures that everything connects if you change to a new router that uses a different address space.
