RN104 stuck at 99% (mysql.service) following 6.5 upgrade and USB Recovery

HI

Keep my ReadyNas firmware updated when each release come out.

Folliwing upgrade to 6.5 and removal of the Surveilance and SMB apps  it will only boot to 99%.

It then only rebooted to 95%, then back to 99%.

I tried the recovery tool (needed 3 different USB stick for it to work - but then it worked quite quickly.

However, it is still stuck at 99% boot up and showing msql.service in the display.

Activity light is solid/flashing so it looks like it is doing something

Plus, the powerbutton is flashing blue.

The data is still available on the drives (and it's all backed up).

RAIDar picks up the RN, it has an IP but the managemtn service is offline.

It is still under warranty until Aug but I'd rather fix than swap if I can.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'll leave it flashing for now and see if it fixes itself

Thanks

  • No account called backup.

However, have added a share called backup - and removed it

    Resynced/rebooted NAS

    Reboored PC

    IT's gone !

Interestingly, until I rebooted the PC, I had no access to the other shares having rebooted the Nas ?

  • A couple of reboots using RAIDar and I stops at 98% now - upnphttpd.service ...what ever that means.

I may have to bite the bullet and factory reset....I have the data so why not !

Also worth making a note is that update 6.5 re-set my password back to

      admin and password

it took me for ever before I realised this.

This is not a hardware issue, so swapping the device under the hardware warranty will not fix your issue. You'll boot up the new chassis with the old HHDs, and the same thing will happen as the operating system is on the HDDs (and this is software issue).
    Did you try contacting support?

      Definitely not hardware.

However, it you want support for a device under warranty - you have to pay pay pay.

So, it cuts the same way if I have to reset or replace the device - I have to start from scratch with my drives.....

      So, that's what I did.

After several attempts to reboot to try to get the device to 'sort itself out' and boot past the error, I gave up.

      Factory reset the device.

It's now busy resyncing  data at 7.2% with "60 plus hours" to go....

But that's OK.  I have a back up (copy) of all me data on an old IOMEGA device which I'll restore to the RN104 when it's finished.  Then I might upgrade the drives in the IOMEGA to 2TB each and use it for a proper back up - lot of cryptolocker around right now.

        OK,

So my factory reset has completed, my drives have spent a few days "Resyncing' - which seems to mean deleting all the data.

However, most of my shares are still there - they are just empty...no files/data in them.

I say 'most of my shares' as I can see them all in Windows explorer.

But, when I look in the ReadyNas web interface, i cannot see my 'Backup' folder - but I can see a 'backup' folder through windows (not the uppercase and lower case B)

I can access and map all folders/shares through Window expect for the 'backup' folder - this prompts me for a user name and password.

Every name/PW combo I try fails.

I also cannot see this folder through the web interface - and I wnat to delete it

Any suggestions how to view/delete this unwanted 'backup' folder??

        Thanks
