RND4000v2 - RND4000 NV+ v2 - Readynas Wont Switch On Boot Up
Hello All, I am hoping for some guidance here. I have a Readynas NV+ v2 that wont switch on or boot up. The power supply has a green light indicator on the inline transformer brick and there...

Lets be clear too, that the main aim is to get the data off that's required from the drives. Configured as Flex Raid. 4 disks and single hard drive redundancy.
It should be possible to mount the RAID array manually in an x86 linux system.
You can also use RAID recovery software in a PC - R-Studio would work. You'd want the $79.99 version.
Note you can see if the software can access your data before purchase.

Thanks StephenB for your perseverence 😉
Does RAIDar find the chassis if you power it up diskless? - It has done a few times, but now it does not. When I turn on the power without any disk in the chassis the display screen goes straight to the "Boot Menu" even without pressing and holding the Reset button. Thereafter I cannot turn off the power by pressing the Power button all I can do is press the Backup button and that flips the screen to "Boot Menu Normal" and does nothing else. The only action available at this point is to pull the power cable out!

This is the replacement chassis you just purchased, correct?
Something clearly wrong with it (perhaps the reset button is jammed). I'm tagging Sandshark as he might have other ideas.

This is the replacement chassis you just purchased, correct? Yes - I have checked the Reset button as best I can and when I insert the paperclip and press it I can feel a small movement/click - so I don't think it is jammed.

The NV+ V2 in one ReadyNAS I have never owned. There are two things that can cause the unit to boot directly into the boot menu. One is that the NAS believes the reset button is pushed. The other is bad firmware, as that's what provides the boot menu.
Netgear has never released schematics for the ReadyNAS line, so fault isolation of hardware issues it tough. But you could open the unit and at least see if the button seems to be working. Most ReadyNAS buttons are double-pole and use both for redundancy, but the reset button may not because it's not used often. I would pursue this if the next option doesn't work.
USB recovery should fix a firmware problem, but finding the tool to do so is difficult. See Requesting-USB-recovery-for-NV-v2 , which is from a user with the same issue as yours and a link to the proper tool is in a reply.
