Since Upgrade to 4.2.22

My system now locks as "booting" when using the perform volume scan on next boot flag , have left it for a week and it never booted up.
Raidar indicates a lenghthy background task is in progress.
Manually pressing the buttons to start or restart the device still works! but I have 3 of these and my remote sites are hundreds of miles away!
Can I downgrade until someone sorts this problem out? :x

    Sounds like something is hanging up the system. I would suggest doing an OS re-install. See http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... _boot_menu for how to do this for your device. If this does not fix your issue, you will need to contact Netgear Support and have them login to your system and clean out the OS.
  • OS re-install done, system booted ok from buttons and when you restart from a browser it hangs, front panel now reads, checking drive c: 69% ( which is reached in about 25 mins then it sits there) left it for 3 hours before turning it of manually and restated using front panel button. Before OS re-install front panel just read booting indefinately, progress but not a solution! ....can I downgrade to previous version? it is out of warranty support so this is how I get support...
  • When I checked the shares I could only access them as read only and one of my shares is now empty of files where it contained about 400 before the last restart!
    Tried all of the options to regain access to the shares and can not get into any other than read only. Have reset admin password and recreated previous users.
    Still no joy.
    Did another OS re-install to see if this would grant access to the shares again,
    This was a bad move,
    Unit has now hung on booting when you do a restart from the web interface, at booting on front screen.
    The unit also now has hung from the front button restart at the booting... checking drive c: 69% for 30 min then gone to booting... only ion the screen which is where it sits indefinately until I turn it off!

    The warranty on a NVX Pioneer is 3 years.

    The warranty on a NVX (not Pioneer) is 5 years.

    Which do you have and when did you purchase it?
  • It is under warranty and I now have a support case in progress

  • Result of support, unix kernal showed all filepermissions correct but drives were in read only mode.
    this was down to the unit being unable to recover a file corruption.
    manged to recover about 5% of data using sftp when support had let me in as root user.
    Then the device needed to be factory reset.
