Slow performance after SABnzb install / checking root FS

Hi all,

First time poster - not even sure it's in the right forum section but will throw it out and hope someone with more knowledge than myself can help figure this one out.

History:
Been playing around setting up SABnzb / sickbeard. Setup quite a few shows to download but was having some issues changing the location for the shows to go to after download. Now this didn't stop SABnzb from downloading them and attempting to put the shows into the messed up locations I was pointing it to on my NAS. I was using //ip address//location instead of /c/location... now my NAS is running really slow and I am taking a guess that all of these shows i was downloading have gone somewhere on the C:\ of the NAS which I may have to delete??? Anway, that's just a guess and i'm in the process of trying to install enablerootssh.bin so i can access the c:\ to have a look around and see if i can find the files as I can't see them anywhere on my media folders.

Thing is, during my troubleshooting SABnzb service just stopped working so I rebooted the NAS and during the reboot it went through the process of checking root FS.

Now what I have is a NAS that i can hardly access due to it being unresponsive. For example, it's been sitting there trying to load (not even install) the enablerootssh.bin addon (5 mins while typing this email).

Question is - am i on the right path thinking that SABnzb could have been putting these TV Shows which would be very large, in the wrong area on the NAS and messing up with it's available space on C:\ for read/write or could it be something else after the NAS went through checking the root FS? Still waiting by the way - 8mins and it's just spinning the little waiting dial.

One more thing - I'm in the process of backing up some pics to an external HDD connected directly to the NAS (so if s*%t goes down I don't lose them and my marriage) and i'm only getting 1-1.4MB/s.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Dean
