I keep on reading those charts over and over..and graphs and review...But i can't see the real difference between the readynas V2 and the ultra 2...Pricewise they are almost the same here...I decided to return the readynas duo because of the very slow transfer speed.All i need to do is move files from my devices (htpc laptop...) and store them in the NAS,which will run in Raid 1,mirroring.Files are sometime movies so large 5Gb files...and I open word or excel files to work on them.Which of the 2 would transfer the fastes from "X" to the NAS? i'd map this as network drive in each device and just drag and drop into/from it.Thanksgabriele

If I'm not mistaking, the V2 uses ARM while the Ultra uses x86 OS. I'm not sure of the limitations of ARM OS vs x86 OS. Does both units come with the same amount of RAM? I'd guess the Ultra is better performance wise if it has more RAM to start with.

The ultra and pro are bothfaster than the v2. All need to be on a gigabit network to take advantage of the speeds.

If I'm not mistaking, the V2 uses ARM while the Ultra uses x86 OS. I'm not sure of the limitations of ARM OS vs x86 OS.

Yes they surely are faster then the V1, but i can't say write read wise which one performs better,and that is what i want to pay for.
I got a cat6 giga network so that should be no issue...WD red drives...so...up to the. Nas choice.
I was really surprise to be unable to compared them,or better,not to find much differences...do they run utorrent btw?

Performance results are all posted on ReadyNAS.com. While other testers might get somewhat different results, these are certainly fine for comparing the platforms.

They all run torrent downloads, but for x86 you need to download Transmission addon and get it working. I guess there is a similiar addon for ARM based units. On the V1 there is a bit-torrent download manager embedded in the OS.

I am not sure i have seen any trace of utorrent in the V1...in any case is no use since i got my disks out yesterday and will return the unit.
I have found the product itself very nice and interface simple,but i think compared to the speed of HTPC<>laptop it was just too slow...so i will go for the ULtra 2 in the future to get to similar speeds,read 90 write 50..
