Start all over

It will wipe the disk, so all data will be deleted. You must backup your data first if you want to keep it. If you value your data you should backup your data regularly anyway.

What if i use another hdd first to get to os on, and then put in the other with the files on ? Would it still delete the files?

It still needs to wipe the disk.

The OS is stored on both disks. The NAS needs to format all disks that are installed.

So first install a different hard drive of the same size, create shares on its C volume, and copy your files onto it over the network. Then install the drive with the movies as the second drive. It will be wiped, and you will end up with a RAID-1 C volume (protected against 1 drive failure). This will be the same size as your existing drive (not 2x).

RAID is helpful, but doesn't guarantee data safety. So you will need a backup of some kind - a USB drive perhaps.

is it not possible to install a 1 tb and a 2 tb hardrive ? or does it have to be same size ?

If you using the default xraid2, you want the drives to be the same size.

If you start with a 1 TB drive, you can add a 2 TB. But you are wasting space (you end up with a 1 TB shared volume with redundancy)

If you start with a 2 TB drive, the system will not let you add a 1 TB.

You can use jbod (flexraid), which will let you create two volumes (one on each disk). Then you'd have 3 TBs total, but wouldn't have any RAID protection at all. Generally new users are better off with the default xraid-2.

I will put in the 2tb drive and get me one more :)

i now installed a new formated 2 tb WD green harddrive.
in RAIDar, first i see, booting and then i says update - and then i just stand like this (see pic below) for several hours. at my fathers place, he´s gonna have it, it stod like that for 24 hours, and then i turned it off, because the fan was to loud. now i will try at home, and it´s no better. i´ve tried to reset it with the reset buttom at the back. turn off power, hold down reset, turn on power, wait for light in disc 1-2. still nothing ? im a doing something wrong ?

Generally you don't want to format the disks before you insert them.

Also, were you installing a second drive, or was this the initial drive?
