Strange issue. My Sparc unit thinks it's an x86?
I was trying to get RN Photos working a few days/weeks ago, but in doing so hit a problem. Namely this: Uploaded with ImageShack.us I had some time today, so sat down to look at this again...

It sounds like there may be a permissions problem with the /tmp folder (just a guess). Doing the chown and chmod commands suggested above perhaps with the recursive option (-R) specified could perhaps be worth a try.
A firmware re-install requires powering down the NAS and using a paperclip. Installing firmware over the top of itself via Frontview is not a true firmware re-install. It may fix some problems, but not as many.
