Suddenly making very loud buzzing sound
I've had my NAS for several years. Seem to remember having changed the fan once fairly early on. Suddenly now very loud buzz. I've taken it apart to see if the fan looked like it was rubbing but do...

I recently encountered a similar situation--the fan making a bunch of noise. I thought "dust," so I vacuumed the outside of the unit, took the two disks out and vacuumed them on the outside and then inside the unit. When I put the disks back in, the unit does not want to operate. The power LED just blinks. I tried power down with the power button (no response) and power down by unplugging. Still, the power button LED just blinks.
I have ALL my data on the disks, and I'm shuddering at the thought the data is gone. I do hope I can get the unit to operate.
Any suggestions?
If the unit is bad, can I get a new diskless unit, insert my current disks and continue without losing data?
Many thanks.
Merry Christmas!!!
