When did you purchase your NV+ (v1)? Was it purchased brand new on/after Aug 21, 2007? If so it would still be under warranty and you should contact NetGear tech support (http://www.readynas.com/support) and post your case number preferably editing the thread title (i.e. subject of first post in thread to include it).
