Transition from ReadyNAS Duo v1 to ReadyNAS 104
I'm getting ready to transition from the Duo v1 to the RN104. I intend to start out with one (1) new 2TB drive in the RN104 and copy the files from the Duo to it. Once the file copy has completed I intend to move both of the two 2TB drives from the Duo to the RN104, setup as RAID5 and let the RN104 start the process. Is this a sound way to get the drives and the information from the Duo to the RN104? Please advise. Thanks.
after u destroyed the old volume then click on the x-raid box to disengage x-raid2, after that you may click on first drive and create new volume, create with jbod and u are done for drive 1. as for drive 2 u do the same.
i usually called drive 1 as data1 and drive 2 as data2. u may use any name :-)

that should work
after u insert the 2 old drives to the new nas immediately u need to destroy whats in the old drives and then enable/create the new volume/array with the existing new drive under x-raid2

Thanks for the follow-up, it is much appreciated. Could I also break the X-RAID mirror and use one drive to setup the new RN104 and then add the second drive? If so, how do I seperate the two volumes configured as X-RAID? I see no instructions on the Netgear site regarding the process for doing so. Thanks, again.
