Turning PC off automatically based on UPS attached to ReadyNAS

My RN21400 has a APC ES550 UPS attached and I would like my desktop Windows 10 PC to be able to monitor the UPS's status via the NAS and hibernate automatically when the UPS is running out of power. I'm sure I read of this being possible but the APC Powerchute software doesn't seem to allow for remove UPS monitoring, only for the monitoring of a UPS attached directly via USB.

Can anyone suggest how I may achieve this?

Thanks

  • The NAS uses a package called NUT (Network UPS Tools) to monitor the UPS.  There is an old beta version of this package for Windows that you could try - that would let you monitor the NAS over the network.  Of course you'd also need to protect a switch that connects to both the NAS and the PC.

      That sounds very promising...

The switch comment is a good call, I hadn't thought of that!

      Many thanks
