Two ReadyNAS 526X - one shows in Mac OS Finder Locations, the other doesn't

Hi there,

I have two readynas 526x that are identical in terms of OS version, make of HDD, etc.  All settings on both ReadyNAS are identical.  I use Macs to connect to these.  I use "ReadyNAS" as my everyday file server.  I use "BkupNAS" to back up ReadyNAS.

When I start my Macs, "BkupNAS" appears in Finder / Locations, "ReadyNAS" doesn't.  "ReadyNAS" and "BkupNAS" both appear in Finder / Locations / Network.  If I deselect the display of Bonjour computers in Finder / Preferences then "BkupNAS" disappears from Finder / Locations.

I can mount both NAS by using Finder / Go / Connect to server...  .  I can always mount "BkupNAS" by clicking on it in Finder / Locations.  "ReadyNAS" is flakey if I try to connect by clicking on it in Finder / Locations / Network.

It suggests to me that a discovery service is not working on "ReadyNAS" but I can't find it.

Any suggestions to resolve this inconsistent behaviour would be gratefully recieved!

Thanks in advance.

FWIW, there are discovery issues in Windows also- and when they show up, there is often no resolution.

There is a "legacy windows discovery" checkbox in system->settings->services->SMB that you might want to try enabling.
