Ultra 2, can't change any configuration, #20458063
Hi,
Weird thing has just happened to my ultra 2 which as got me quite worried. Suddenly all of my CIFS, NFS and https protocols are disabled in the standard file protocols page and if I attempt to enable them it looks as though it attempts to, but then returns to the page with them disabled. The same issue applies to all other settings. I also had root ssh enabled but now if I attempt to ssh I get connection refused.
Any ideas what is going on?
Prior to this happening I was attempting to figure out why I couldn't save a word doc or open certain text files from a windows machine (fine using NFS in linux). But I don't think I made any meaningful changes during this process.
Help desperately appreciated.
Thanks
Lionel

- Lionelv00AspirantSo they've asked me to send them through my IP and login as well as some other information. They've also asked me to install enable root ssh, sadly, I get a not valid for this architecture message when I try to install it. As I said earlier on I had this installed but the system sadly decided that it would disable it.
There really needs to be a failsafe way of getting at the file system. It would be faster for me to pull the hard drives out and plug them into my linux box and have a look. As active as this techsupport it takes a long time to get anywhere as the main time they are online is when I'm at work and can't do much :(. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf EnableRootSSH is installed SSH access should continue to work fine unless there is a big problem such as the OS partition getting full.
If the OS partition is full you would get that error when you attempt to install add-ons. You don't need to forward ports. Also if support wanted SSH access to your box they should be asking you to install a different add-on.
The only way for support to fix a problem like this would be via tech support mode and as mentioned they don't need your I.P. address or login credentials from you from this. If you give them the five digit ID from RAIDar they can get into your system. - Lionelv00AspirantSo is my support agent now out of her depth? Should I request a representative to access my NAS in techsupport mode as you've suggested? I thought that's what they would do this time, but it seems they wanted to attempt ssh first. Well they can access frontview now so they can see for themselves.
This really is painful, I just want my NAS back. It's the first one I've ever owned and is only 3 weeks old. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired
