Ultra 2 vs 102
Hi,
Quite simple. Assume they are equally priced. Which one? Ultra 2 has the Atom CPU at 1.8 and more memory. 102 is the latest model with the new OS but seems inferior hardware wise.
Both can be found new at £150.
Thoughts?

- The ultra-2 CPU is faster, though the RN102 uses less power. But I think the answer really depends on what services you want to use. If you want the normal NAS services (CIFS, AFP, NFS, FTP), then either device will serve.
If you are interested in the emerging cloud features of the NAS, then the RN102 is what you need.
There are a couple of other features unique to the RN102 - the continuous protection mode (letting you rollback to old file versions), the real-time antivirus protection, SSD disk support, and eSata I/O. - Hi StephenB, thank you for your reply. I eventually went with the Ultra 2. Although I would like to get the new device/OS (the new design looks good too), I can live with the software changes (that is what SSH is for) but the hardware cannot be changed, the Ultra 2 gets up to 4+ GB of memory and has an 1.8GHz Atom in it so it still sounds to me like the better deal. I can live with the low CPU speeds but the memory is a bit of a problem (512MB in 2013? come on!)
