Ultra 4 Expansion Math - Correct?

Just got a new ultra 4 up and running. The volumes listed say the following...

Configuration: RAID Level X-RAID2, 4 disks
Status: Redundant

RAID Disks:
Ch 1 : WDC WD15EARS-00Z5B1 [1397 GB] 1392 GB allocated
Ch 2 : WDC WD15EARS-00Z5B1 [1397 GB] 1392 GB allocated
Ch 3 : Seagate ST2000DL003-9VT166 [1863 GB] 1858 GB allocated
Ch 4 : Seagate ST2000DL003-9VT166 [1863 GB] 1858 GB allocated

Above that, it says...

Disk space 186 MB (0%) of 4156 GB used
Additional 5 GB reserved for snapshots

Am I missing about 500GB of space? Should this be closer to 4600GB and not 4156GB?

Thanks

Try a reboot. Hopefully vertical expansion will then take place.
  • Tried that - nothing changes. Is there anyway to force this or have the NAS relook at the volume space?

    Thanks
  • Yeah - seems that many reboots do not fix anything on this.

The WD15EARS are not on the HCL but the WD20EARS is (larger versiom of same). Had the 1.5TB drives already... I would be shocked if that was an issue - but perhaps

Had the WD drives in it first (up and running with 1.5TB of redundant space) and then added the 2TB Seagates. No data on any of the drives yet, so at this point I am open to trying anything. Just want to ensure I am getting max that I can.

    Thanks
  • what raidiator version does frontview show?

did you start with all 4 drives in the device, or add them one by one?

if there is no data on it, you can try a factory default (system > update > factory default)

else, you may need to contact online support (post your ticket# in the first post thread title) and let them investigate.

normally its should happen automatically, or after a couple reboots.
  • Did a factory reset as suggested and now I am at 4.5TB. Thanks for the suggestion. Obviously there was a problem with the way I initially got the unit up and running.

    Cheers
