Unable to install or start apps that rely on Perl

Have a look at /var/log/apt/history.log
You will need to try installing the original packages you replaced. Similar to this: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=434443#p434443
If it doesn't work then a backup and factory reset is the best way forward.
